Privacy Policy

THIS WILL MEME ("we", "us", or "our") operates thiswillmeme.com and the application at app.thiswillmeme.com. This policy explains what we collect, why, who processes it on our behalf, and what you can ask us to do about it.

Effective 3 August 2026.

1. Contact

For any question or request about your data, email support@thiswillmeme.com. We aim to respond within two business days.

2. Accounts and authentication

Sign-in is handled by Clerk, which creates and manages your account and your session on our behalf. Through Clerk we receive:

  • your account identifier;
  • your email address;
  • the display name and profile image your chosen sign-in method provides.

If you sign in with a third-party provider, that provider confirms your identity to us. We never receive your password. Clerk stores the authentication data and sets the cookies that keep you signed in.

3. What you give us

Your prompts. The idea text you type in order to generate an image. We store it, linked to your account, so that we can produce your image and show you your history.

Your generated images. The meme images produced for you. We store them, linked to your account.

4. How your generated images are stored

Generated images are stored in cloud object storage that is currently configured so that anyone who has an image's URL can open it without signing in. We do not publish those URLs, we do not list them anywhere, and we do not intentionally submit them for search-engine indexing — but the files are not access-controlled, and we do not claim that they are. Treat an image URL as something you would not want to share unless you are content for the image to be seen.

5. Service providers

We rely on the following providers to run the service. Each processes only what its purpose requires.

  • Clerk — authentication and session management: account identifier, email, profile data, session cookies.
  • OpenAI — image and text generation: your prompt and the generated result.
  • Supabase — database and image storage: account records, prompts, subscription records, generated images.
  • Vercel — hosting and delivery: technical request data, including IP address, as part of serving the site.
  • Our payment processor — payments and subscriptions: your payment and billing details. See section 6.
  • Sentry — error monitoring. See section 7.

6. Payments and subscriptions

Payments and subscriptions are handled by our third-party payment processor. We never receive or store your card number. We store which plan you are on, your subscription status and renewal dates, and a record of each charge.

Your payment processor may act as merchant of record for your purchase, in which case it is the seller shown on your statement and it issues your invoice.

7. Error monitoring

We use Sentry to identify and diagnose technical errors. Error reports may include technical information about the request, the device, the state of the application and the circumstances in which an error occurred. We configure the service to limit unnecessary personal information.

8. Analytics

We do not run analytics, advertising or session-recording tools on this service. We do not record your screen, and we set no analytics or advertising cookies.

9. Cookies and similar storage

We use cookies and similar storage that are necessary for authentication, security and essential service preferences. Because we run no non-essential tracking, there is nothing optional for you to accept or reject.

10. Log data

Our hosting and infrastructure providers keep standard technical logs — including IP address, timestamp and the page or endpoint requested — in order to operate and secure the service. We do not use these logs to build a profile of you.

11. Email from us

We do not currently send marketing email. Your payment processor may send you receipts and billing notices relating to your purchase.

12. International processing

The providers listed in section 5 process data in more than one country, including outside your own. By using the service you understand that your data may be processed in those countries. We use providers that offer contractual protections for international transfers.

13. How long we keep things

  • Contract, payment, refund and tax records: 5 years.
  • Complaint and dispute records: 3 years.
  • Advertising and price-display records: at least 6 months.
  • Prompts and generated images: kept while your account is open, then removed under the deletion policy in section 14.

14. Deleting your account and your data

Email support@thiswillmeme.com from the address on your account to request deletion. Once we have verified the request:

  • access to your account is disabled promptly;
  • your prompts, generated images and active account data are generally deleted from our active systems within 7 days;
  • residual copies held in encrypted backups expire through the normal backup cycle within 30 days;
  • records we are legally required to keep — billing, tax, fraud and dispute records — are stored separately and retained for the periods in section 13.

15. Your rights

You can ask us to provide a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, or stop certain processing. Email support@thiswillmeme.com and we aim to respond within two business days. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

16. Children

THIS WILL MEME is not directed to children under 13.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that an account belongs to a child under 13, we may suspend access and take reasonable steps to delete the associated personal information, unless applicable law requires another process.

Eligibility to use the service, including the permission a user under 18 needs from a parent or legal guardian, is set out in our Terms of Service.

17. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will post the new version here and update the date at the top. Where a change is material, we will make it visible before it takes effect.
